American Bittern. Three Lakes WMA, Osceola County, FL. December 2025. eBird checklist S288801683

Another lifer from the (Lake Apopka) North Shore Birding Festival. A Great Egret caught my about 400 feet away from me. The I noticed the bittern nearby, standing straight up on a mass of floating vegetation, out in the open. I have shots of that but I love this one of it sprinting for cover. This is also the most ambitious editing project I've undertaken.

Cooper's Hawk. Long Beach Pier, Brunswick County, southern coast of NC. December 2025. eBird checklist S289603027

There's a new beachfront house being build beside the pier. This Coop was perched atop on of the pilings, about 35 feet up. It was watching over the beach, maybe hoping for some small shorbs?
