Wednesday's BRDL answer was "HISP". Does anybody know what bird that refers to?

I believe that's the banding code for Hispaniolan Spindalis. Definitely not on the ABA checklist!

I don't know what list BRDL goes by, but the completed banding codes can be checked at
alphacodes.net.
If you enter 2 or more letters, a list of possibilities will be generated,. Take note that it is sequence specific and the order of the 2-3 letters can change the list. It's a handy tool but doesn't always list all possibilities so mixing the letters up will produce different results. Example, ABC, BCA, CAB, will all produce different possibilities even though they share the same letters. In this example there are 0, that's zero results for ABC, and multiple results for the other combinations. It's pretty good at IDing the finished code,
sometimes helpful when you can't come up with a code using your Birds of North America Field Guide as a reference.
