Gull in SW Montana

Post by Taylorjane »

Any help with an ID of this Gull would be appreciated. I thought at first it was a Herring Gull, but after checking my books, I'm not quite sure.
Taken yesterday in SW Montana.

Thank You!

Anything in particular? Looks like a Herring to me (eye and mantle color etc.), they have typically lost any neck streaking by now.

We typically see Ring-billed and California Gulls. The iris on this bird looked yellow like a Ring-billed,but the beak had a red spot like a California.
