My first hummingbird of the year
My first hummingbird of the year
Thanks for all yalls help over the last few weeks. I feel like I'm learning a lot in a short time. Was able to catch a shot of my first hummingbird this morning (Avon, CO). I've tried using photo IDes online and have gotten 3 different possible responses: Anna's, Broad-Tailed and Allen's (which never come close to Colorado). Hoping some of yall might know and provide some pointers on things to look for on hummingbirds.

I'm awful with Hummingbirds & would definitely wait for other opinions but what about Rufous?

Anna's doesn't have the rusty wash on the flanks. That leaves Rufous or Broad-tailed, usually a tough call.stitch58 wrote: Sun May 10, 2026 12:36 am I'm awful with Hummingbirds & would definitely wait for other opinions but what about Rufous?
