Leucistic Blue Jay

Need help identifying a bird? Please post your question here and if possible include a photo. Also let us know where and when you saw the bird. Leucistic Blue Jay

I know it's a Blue Jay but I am wondering if this Blue Jay is leucistic?

It was taken this morning (5/14/2026) in Delray Beach FL.

Is it just washed out by the angle of the light?

It was under a tree canopy so there wasn't much light. There were two, but I don't remember if the other had a blue head. Neither of them stuck around long enough. I didn't get a shot of the other one.

And then, decades later, because of a birding message board like this one, some of us looked the word up on Google to understand the new word we dont remember hearing about in school. :D
