Thought a spotted towhee but some odd markings
Thought a spotted towhee but some odd markings
Caught this pair foraging together on the same bush this today. Thought spotted towhee. However, the "male" doesn't have any white on it's breast that I ever saw and the rusty brown/orange makes a collar around the back of the neck instead of the black head extending into the back and wings. Also, what I thought was the female doesn't look anything like what a female spotted towhee looks like when I google. I'm hoping somebody can shed some light on these two. Thanks!

Re: Thought a spotted towhee but some odd markings
Thank you! I figured there had to be something else that had a similar color pattern but wasn't sure where to start. When I googled "what other birds have similar coloring as a spotted towhee" all I got was eastern towhee which clearly wasn't getting me anywhere.
