Warbling Vireo? (audio)

Need help identifying a bird? Please post your question here and if possible include a photo. Also let us know where and when you saw the bird. Other things that help are listing any field marks that stood out, behavioral information like how it walked, hopped or flew. This Forum is just for North American birds.

Warbling Vireo? (audio)

This audio was taken yesterday (8/15) in Green Bay, WI. Merlin said there was a warbling vireo, but the sound is somewhat in the distance, and I'm not sure. (Turn the sound up to hear this one)

I'm not sure if House Finch can be ruled out.

I would have said house finch, unless there is something I'm not hearing which is possible.

The warbling vireo sound wasn't obvious to me either--that's why I posted it. House finches are very common here. I'll see if I have any other clips where the warbling vireo was supposedly present.

Here is another clip from the same day. I think the sound in question is right away in the beginning, but again, the sound is distant. There are other bird sounds that are louder.
