Bird at Feeder - Desoto, TX

Need help identifying a bird? Please post your question here and if possible include a photo. Also let us know where and when you saw the bird. Bird at Feeder - Desoto, TX

What is this weird sparrow-looking thing that has been visiting my feeder the last several days in the Dallas Texas area?

(I'm actually pretty sure what it is but I thought I'd get the subforum started.)

It's a Female Red-winged Blackbird (Probably of the nominate subspecies, A. p. phoeniceus)

It's odd, last season we had flocks and flocks of females, but we've never seen a male at this location.

It's odd, last season we had flocks and flocks of females, but we've never seen a male at this location.
I've often seen segregated flocks. My understanding is the females and immatures flock separately from males when not in the breeding season.

Yes, but the males have to be somewhere.
